biking

i really want to get a bike-- I haven't biked much ever and certainly not at all in years, but the distance to school is onl 3.5 miles and I think I could handle it if I worked up to it and worked on safety. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any bike storage in my building....but i really would love to get a bike. looking at craigslist, broadway bike school, my bike and bikes not bombs. any suggestions?
